The goals of the Article hangtag system were manyfold. First, it provided a consistent brand presentation a 2000+ collection of products. Secondly, it provided product care information which informed customers on how to maintain their products for years to come.
A major obstacle was the challenge of being specific enough without having to design, maintain and implement 2000+ unique hangtags.
A modular system was the solution. We identified different categories of care, which was usually determined by material. For example, leather requires different care than upholstery, so the same style of sofa (eg: the Sven) would receive a different hangtag depending on if it was a leather or upholstered finish. Some upholstered fabrics received a unique care card (eg: velvet). If a product was made of multiple kinds of materials (eg: a marble-topped coffee table with wooden legs), the product would receive multiple care cards assembled together into the hangtag.
We developed a backend order system for our vendors who could place hangtag orders directly through our Asia-based printer partner based on their quantities needed and inventory.
